American School of The Hague (ASH) is looking for a part-time (15%) Fitness Center Supervisor SY 2023-2024, start date is April 1, 2024.

Working hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 15:45 – 17:30 and Wednesday 15:00 – 16:30 during the school year.

You are independent and confident in your role. Additionally you:

• Have experience in weight training and the use of fitness equipment,
• Have some experience as a manager or supervisor of fitness/weight training,
• Are aware of safety issues surrounding fitness/weight room equipment, specifically with adolescents,
• Have knowledge of maintenance and care of fitness/weight room facilities.

The Role: The position of Fitness Center Supervisor falls under the direct supervision of the Athletics Director. As a Fitness Center Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing safe and effective instruction on all cardiovascular and weight training equipment in our fitness room.

The Work: As a Fitness Center Supervisor, your work will consist of being visibly present in the room during the full session that Grade 7- Grade 12 students have access. You will refer all injury-related and serious issues to the supervisor and you will supervise and inspect the fitness/weight room and equipment to ensure a safe and clean workout environment. You maintain and monitor compliance of our code of conduct for the fitness/weight room area. You will ensure proper attire for equipment use and you perform routine maintenance of the fitness room and equipment and restrict the use of broken equipment and report it to the supervisor. On a daily basis, you make reports and records of participation. In addition, you regularly communicate in person with the immediate supervisor and you assist the immediate supervisor with the setting up for programs, special events or other activities in the fitness/weight room. You will also work with the PE Coordinator and the Athletics Director to develop a procedure for certification of students’ eligibility to use the facility. You perform other tasks assigned to you by the Athletics Director.
